| | Carlingford Lough
After the tension of getting in, I was very pleased to potter slowly about Carlingford Lough, looking for a place to anchor. On the various charts and pilots different places were marked as oyster beds. Eventually I decided to drop the hook just out of the main shipping channel through the Lough by a 'radar buoy'. My reasoning was that shipping at that point would know where it was because of the buoy and so pass the buoy correctly, thus avoiding me. Even so I hoisted the anchor ball immediately, and double checked that the anchor light was lit. There was little traffic although I did get a chance to add to my growing collection of 'cranes afloat' when Fastnet Sound happened by.
