Passing the Skerries

On the second day the wind moved to the north. Had I sill been in Conwy I'd have been stuck there. My twelve miles of offing, painfully acquired, made a motor-sail towards Holyhead a viable option, with the north coast of Wales distant enough to not be a worrying lee shore. The highlight of the day was arriving at the Swellies at slack water, where the above 'gray day' photograph was taken. With holyhead closed to visitors since Storm Emma destroyed the marina in March 2018, I pressed on 'round the corner' and south into Caernarfon Bay. Letting Tramontana drift I started grabbing twenty minute stretches of sleep in this empty part of the Irish Sea.
